I hope you all had a chance over the weekend to try out the math website login that came home in the HOWL folders. It's a great website to practice math facts and skills.
In Science this week we learning about the physical properties of matter and about solid, liquids and gasses. We did two in-class labs, one about physical properties and the other was a balloon lab where we had to use our senses to predict the contents of the balloons.

We started delving deeper into poetry and not only making connections to the text but also, visualizing and using imagery. I have such a creative and imaginative class. I was SO impressed with the meaning and conversation they were able to contribute to our poetry discussions.

I am also loving the WATCH DOGs (dad) program.
Our class has been lucky to have two dads this week come and learn with us. On Tuesday, our class clock finally got a battery thanks to Mr. Rob Conduit. Mr. Rob also hung around for our poetry lesson and helped us to clap and hear rhythm.  The kids clapped different beats as he read! We really enjoyed him spending time in our classroom.  On Thursday Watch Dad and DJ, Greg Ripley came in and rocked out with us as we practiced our Noun and Verb songs! Here they are if you want to sing along at home....

We will be reading and reciting an excerpt from The Declaration of Independence this week and talking about freedom and the rights that we have as American citizens.

During Reading this week we will be practicing questioning and learning how to infer...

This Tuesday night is Parent Orientation from 5-7pm. This will consist of four 30 minute sessions (all the same) geared towards information for parents. Hope to see you there.
